HUD Expands Mortgage Document to Five Languages Translations

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced on Wednesday that it is expanding its collection of translated single-family mortgage documents by adding 19 new translations: Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. This addition complements the 40 previously translated mortgage documents already available.

“At HUD, we are committed to ensuring that homeownership is accessible to everyone, especially first-time homebuyers,” said HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman. “Providing information in multiple languages is a common-sense action that will help families achieve their dream of owning a home. Today, we are taking a crucial step towards a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable generation of homeowners.”

The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) maintains a language access page to assist mortgage seekers, lenders, and other FHA program participants in obtaining mortgage information.

The Federal Housing Commissioner, Julia Gordon, emphasized the importance of removing language barriers for borrowers with FHA-insured mortgages. “Borrowers must understand their options for purchasing a home and accessing assistance if they encounter difficulties making mortgage payments,” Gordon said. “With nearly 60 translated mortgage documents available, FHA now offers a comprehensive collection of tools for those seeking mortgages.”
